The short version: Dot Awkward's games don't collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your games, scores and settings stay on your phone.

What this covers

This policy covers the games made by Dot Awkward, Small Plates and Potting Bench, in their web versions and their Android apps, plus the Dot Awkward website.

What we collect

Nothing. The games don't send any information to Dot Awkward or to anyone else. They don't ask for an account, an email address or your location, and they don't include analytics or advertising code.

What stays on your phone

To remember your progress, the games save a few things in your phone's own storage:

  • Your games in progress, scores, stats and streaks.
  • Any player names you type in, such as the two names in a game of Small Plates for two.
  • Your settings, like sound, vibration and light or dark mode.
  • In Potting Bench, your garden and the plants you're caring for.

This information never leaves your phone unless you move it yourself. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, erases it.

Moving and sharing

  • Transfer codes and backups. Small Plates' "Move your games" code and Potting Bench's backup file contain your saved progress. They only go where you copy, paste or save them.
  • Sharing a result. When you share a Daily Special result, your phone's share menu sends exactly the text you see to the app and person you choose. Dot Awkward doesn't see it.

Services we rely on

  • GitHub Pages hosts the websites. Like any web host, it may log basic technical information, such as your IP address, to keep the service running and secure. See GitHub's privacy statement.
  • Google Fonts supplies the lettering on the Dot Awkward website, so your browser contacts Google when you visit it. The games themselves carry their own fonts. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google Play handles downloading the Android apps and any purchases, under Google's privacy policy. Dot Awkward doesn't receive your payment details.

Children

The games are made for a general audience and aren't directed at children under 13. Because they don't collect personal information, we don't knowingly collect any from children.

If this changes

The Android apps may one day show an ad on screen, or offer in-app purchases, to help pay for the studio. If that happens, we'll update this page before that version comes out and explain exactly what any ad or payment service receives. Dot Awkward games will never show ads that pop up between rounds, make you wait, cover the game, or have to be watched to unlock something. The web versions stay ad-free.
