Installing and playing offline
How do I put a game on my home screen?
iPhone or iPad: open the game in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Android: open the game in Chrome, tap ⋮, then Install app (or Add to Home screen).
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Open the game once with a connection, and after that it works fully offline, even in airplane mode.
Android only offers "Create shortcut", not "Install"
Chrome sometimes remembers an old install. Remove any old Small Plates or Potting Bench icon from your home screen, close Chrome completely, open the game again and look for Install app in the ⋮ menu.
The game looks out of date
Games update themselves the next time you open them with a connection. Close the game fully and open it again to get the newest version.
Moving your progress
Your games are saved on your phone, not in an account. That keeps them private, but it means you move them yourself.
Small Plates: move to a new phone or the app
Open Menu, then Move your games. Copy the code it gives you, then open Small Plates on the other phone (or in the app), go to the same page and paste it in. Your stats, best scores and streaks come with it.
Potting Bench: back up your garden
Open the settings (the gear at the top) and choose Save to this phone to save a backup file, or Send to Drive or email to put it somewhere safe. On the other phone, open the same settings and choose Restore.
Will clearing my browser delete my games?
Yes. Clearing a site's data, or deleting the app, erases the progress saved on that phone. Make a code or a backup first if you want to keep it.
The Android apps on Google Play
Are the games coming to app stores?
Yes. Google Play comes first, and the App Store later. We'll post links here as soon as they're live.
Will I lose my progress when I switch to the app?
No. Use Move your games in Small Plates or a backup in Potting Bench to bring everything with you.
Will the apps have ads?
The store apps may show an ad on screen to help pay for the studio. It will never pop up between rounds, never make you wait, never cover the game, and you'll never have to watch an ad to unlock anything.

A word Small Plates won't accept? Send it over and we'll look it up.
